5 Ways To Heal Fear Through The Root Chakra
Feeling fear and being scared are some of the most common ‘issues’ my clients come to me with. Whether it’s the fear of leaving a relationship, the fear of following your dreams or just general subtle anxiety ruling your day to day life, we all know how it feels to be scared.
Quite often this inexplicable fear can be related to the root chakra, which is your energy space that lives at the base of your spine. This is the first chakra to develop, so is your body & soul’s first energetic connection to the earth.
As children and even as adults sometimes we experience certain traumas (it could be as simple as a parent being somewhat absent) that can create a blockage or a weakness in our root chakra, when this happens, fear tends to take over, because the energetic body has no grounding point with the earth.

Practice Root Chakra Stimulating Yoga Poses
Child’s pose, seating twists, standing balances and fire log pose are all great poses to help nurture your root chakra and create both an energetic connection with the earth, but also a trust between your self and your body that you have stability and that you are safe.

Practice ‘Grounding’
Grounding is the practice of bringing the soles of your feet into contact with the earth. Think of the soles of the feet as your soul’s connection the planet, get it?! If possible, every day spend at least 5 minutes with your feet in contact with earth, soil, grass, rock or sand. There’s a reason that so many people nowadays feel so unrooted, if you walk on concrete all day long you are going to feel like that! Walk barefoot as much as possible if you can! You WILL notice a difference!

Lift Some Weights
Weightlifting or lifting heavy things makes your body heavier (duh) and therefore creates a stronger bond with the ground. If you are someone who feels very unstable and flighty then definitely give this a go! And also it’s GOOD for you, especially as we grow older and our bone density slowly reduces.

Change Your Diet
The root chakra is connected to the colour red, so eating red foods, whether it’s tomatoes or beetroots, it will make a difference, it sounds crazy I know but this works! Also eating more root vegetables and foods straight from the earth.

Try Essential Oils
Cinnamon and cedar oil are said to be great oils for activating the root chakra. Rub a few drops into your hands and take 3 deep breaths in before meditation or yoga.
