How Much To Post On Instagram For The Best Engagement.

Working with social media definitely comes with its own challenges. Engagement is a massive factor of working with IG. We’ve witnessed and experienced countless examples now that show the number of followers does not equate to how many people ACTUALLY see your work. And seeing is really just the beginning - you want people to actively engage with what you are putting out.

A big part of this is being in IG’s ‘good books’ and hitting those metrics. For a platform which can feel so creative and community based this is an important thing to remember. What we post and the imagery we use plays a MASSIVE part of this - but there is also a golden formula of how much to post too. So, wanna see how much you should post on Instagram for the best engagement?

3 in feed posts.

10 stories.

7 reels & 3 IGTV per week.

Yup. A lot right?!

I definitely do not have enough time for that many reels and IGTV.

As businesses and entrepreneurs working on Instagram, we are constantly having to stay up-to-date and adapt the way we work. It’s the beauty of the challenge, but it is also A LOT.

Having guidelines or targets such as this to work towards are really bloody helpful, especially I think, when you are figuring your own groove and really working on growing your community. There’s no hiding from the fact that the more you post, the better your engagement will be.

Instagram was born into and from capitalism. It wants our time and focus. It wants quantity. It wants production. BUT REMEBER! You are not a machine that can - or should - just churn out content. And there’s also that age-old adage that goes something along the lines of quality over quantity. I have seen so much feedback critical of the amount on filler content that’s clogging up out feeds in the quest for engagement.

You are human. We ebb and flow. Life sometimes has other plans and throws the odd curve ball or two that can take us out. So yes, the more you post the better and content planning and bulk creating will really help with this. It’s a strategy and it is important. But remember that if you don’t hit that formula – or if your engagement drops – it is okay. Focus on growing authentically and on cultivating a loyal and invested community. It’s not just WHAT DOES IG WANT FROM ME?! It’s also how can IG work FOR ME? And a good place to start figuring that out is knowing what the “rules” are.

I would love to hear your thoughts about what you think you’ll try?!
